Description
What
is a real or truth in the Earth? Also, who is confined or free in a zoo? I sometimes
can not assure our common belief. When
I visited a zoo in my elementary school days, I watch a chimpanzee through the
iron bars. At
the same time, I imagined that nobody is confined, or nobody is free during
the eye contact with the animal in front of the bars.
In
my installation, Zoological Garden 1, when visitors see me first through the bars, the people will think that I am confined in the cage. The audiences, however,
will find the ironical situation that they also are confined with watching the
moniter showing confined themselves at the same time. Finally, I take a Polaroid
Picture them with the bars to call away their prejudice about the common belief.
